My school district is a military district in that approximately 40% of our students are students of military moms and dads. The district is home to a military base, and so I have taught students who have lived all over the world right along with students who have never left our area.
So, yeah, Veterans' Day has a lot of meaning for us as staff and of course our students.
Today we had a nice assembly, organized by a former marine turned teacher. It really makes me think about selfless the men and women who fight and/or have fought for our country are. I see what he, my students' parents, and countless others have sacrificed for our country and for our freedoms.
All I can say is, "Thank you."
